One of the great physicians of the last 75 years was Dr. Abram Hoffer. He pioneered the use of vitamins and minerals as therapy. He stated that there was always a natural substance that could do better than any drug for some body condition. He wrote prolifically and published many articles on using natural substances. He called this Orthomolecular medicine. He recently died after over 90 years of a full life.
Here are my favorite Hoffer quotes:
"Drugs make a well person sick. Why would they make a sick person well?"...
Consider my definition of truth in science and medicine: That which is true because it produces results as a therapy for the patient in improving his health, his beingness and his ability to do things. Take a look at what the current editor of the Lancet Medical Journal states about the current state of science:
“The case against science is straightforward: much of the scientific literature, perhaps half, may simply be untrue. Afflicted by studies with small sample sizes, tiny effects, invalid exploratory analyses, and flagrant conflicts of interest, together with an obsession for pursuing fashionable trends of dubious importance, science has taken a turn towards darkness.” – Dr. Richard Horton, the current editor-in-chief of the Lancet – considered to be one of the most well respected peer-reviewed medical journals in the world.
