Optimum Health Report #349

Unhealthy food that causes various conditions

Do you want to kill yourself and die of cancer? Then just eat a lot of processed foods.

According to a recent article in the British Medical Journal (1) almost 60% of the calories the average American consumes come from ultra-processed foods. These aren’t real foods. “They are food products”. They are created to be convenient, ready to eat, highly palatable, ready to drink and to replace cooking.

Go to any major grocery store and watch what people buy in the checkout line. The main food examples are:

  • Confectionary
  • Soft drinks
  • Sweetened juices
  • Dairy drinks
  • Powders for juices
  • Sausages
  • Chicken and fish nuggets or sticks
  • Pre-prepared frozen dishes
  • Dried products such as cake mix, powdered soup
  • Instant noodles
  • Ready seasonings
  • Morning cereals and cereal bars
  • Energy drinks
  • An endless amount of new products including packaged snacks

These junk foods add 90% of the added sugars to the diet. In another article (2) in the same issue, the authors found that a 10% increase in ultra-processed foods led to a 12% increase in the risk of cancer.

The first intervention that I make on every new patient is to put them on an organic whole food Paleo diet. Within 6 weeks, nearly every person feels the difference and finds their cravings have gone away, their energy is better, their bowel movements are daily and they sleep better.

Try it and avoid suicide. Health is an inside job and only you can pull it off. Not all the medicine in the world or medical care system can save you from yourself.

Good luck!

Have a great week,

Dr. David I Minkoff, MD

Patient Testimonial

“Dear Dr. Minkoff,
Thank you for yet another successful journey of bringing me back from the dead! Some people learn the hard way and I think after two times, hopefully I’ve got enough knowledge to keep myself Lyme free now.
Cindy and I will be moving back to Maryland after our lease is finished in May. I’ve decided I’m not willing to give up on my acupuncture career yet and for financial reasons we will be heading back to Maryland. I’m looking to start a practice where I can use float therapy and acupuncture to help people with PTSD (military), Lyme and sports therapy applications.
Thank you again for all the support through the years.”
– Sincerely Casey P.

Lupus

According to theNational Resource Center on Lupus, “The Lupus foundation of America estimates that 1.5 million American’s and at least five million people worldwide, have a form of lupus.” In addition, lupus is much more common in women and is a disease of the young, generally affecting people aged 15-44.

It is also more common in certain populations such as:

  • African Americans
  • Asians
  • Hispanics/Latinos
  • Native Americans
  • Native Alaskans
  • Native Hawaiians
  • Other Pacific Handlers.

What is Lupus?

Lupus is an autoimmune disease which is a disease in which the immune system attacks healthy tissues in the body causing a wide range of health issues. The inflammation that occurs with lupus and the attacks on healthy tissue can affect the skin, hair, brain, joints, organs and blood vessels. Because symptoms can come and go, many people don’t realize they have an autoimmune response happening. Rather they may think they are simply sick with a virus or they may have been diagnosed with some other health issue since lupus symptoms mimic those of other diseases

Symptoms of Lupus

Lupus disease symptoms can vary from person to person. Common symptoms are:

  • Facial rash (a butterfly shape rash over the cheeks and nose)
  • Hair loss
  • Kidney problems
  • Gastrointestinal issues
  • Thyroid issues
  • Skin lesions
  • Shortness of breath
  • Chest pain
  • Fatigue
  • Joint pain, stiffness and swelling
  • Unexplained fever
  • Dry eyes and mouth
  • Brain fog
  • Headaches
  • Memory issues

This list is extensive and you can see how lupus can be misdiagnosed.

About Dr. David Minkoff, Medical Director

Dr. David Minkoff graduated from the University of Wisconsin Medical School in 1974 and was elected to the “Phi Beta Kappa” of medical schools, the prestigious Alpha Omega Alpha Honors Medical Fraternity for very high academic achievement. He then completed both a Pediatric Residency and a Fellowship in Infectious Disease at the University of California at San Diego. He worked at the University of California and Children’s Hospitals in San Diego as an attending physician in infectious disease while conducting original research on Ribaviron, a broad spectrum anti-viral agent to fight disease. He also co-directed a neo-natal intensive care unit and worked in emergency medicine. In 1992, Dr. Minkoff’s wife Sue, a Registered Nurse, became interested in nutrition and health and began to go to lectures from some of the experts in the field. At the time, Dr. Minkoff was pretty fixed in his view of traditional medicine and it took a lot of convincing to get him to come to one of these lectures. After hearing Dr. Jeffrey Bland speak, Dr. Minkoff had a eureka moment and began pursuing the alternative field with a vengeance. Based on this new knowledge Dr. Minkoff and his wife set up a small clinic in 1997 to help some friends with their medical problems. What began as an experiment blossomed into Lifeworks Wellness Center, one of the most successful clinics for complementary medicine in the United States. In the process, he gained expertise in Biological medicine, integrative oncology, heavy metal detoxification, anti-aging medicine, hormone replacement therapy, functional medicine, energy medicine, neural and prolotherapy, homeopathy, and optimum nutrition. He studied under the masters in each of these disciplines until he became an expert in his own right. Dr. Minkoff is one of the most in-demand speakers in the field and wrote an Amazon best-selling book called The Search For The Perfect Protein. The demand for the products and protocols he discovered became a catalyst for founding BodyHealth.Com, a nutrition company that now manufactures and distributes cutting-edge nutritional solutions for the many health problems of today. Dr. Minkoff writes two free online newsletters, “The Optimum Health Report” and ”The BodyHealth Fitness Newsletter”, to help others learn about optimum health and fitness. Dr. Minkoff is an avid athlete himself and has completed 43 Ironman Triathlons. To keep his fitness maximal, he lives the lifestyle he teaches to others and tries to set an example for others, so they can enjoy a life free of pain and full of energy.
