Cancer is a word that strikes fear into the hearts of many. Often referred to as the “big C,” the diagnosis can be overwhelming, not only because of the severity of the disease but also due to the grueling traditional treatment protocols involving surgery, radiation, and chemotherapy. These methods, while necessary in some cases, can take a significant toll on a patient’s overall well-being.

At LifeWorks Wellness Center in Clearwater, we focus on treating patients, not just cancer. Whether you are undergoing traditional chemotherapy or seeking more natural, holistic treatment options, our holistic cancer treatment approach maximizes recovery potential by supporting the body’s natural defenses and promoting overall health.

One of the innovative therapies we offer is Insulin Potentiation Therapy (IPT).

What is IPT Therapy for Cancer?

Insulin Potentiation Therapy (IPT) is a cutting-edge alternative cancer treatment that uses insulin in combination with chemotherapy to target cancer cells more effectively.

The therapy takes advantage of the fact that cancer cells are “sugar-hungry” and have more insulin receptors than normal cells. By administering insulin first, the doors of the cancer cells open wider, allowing them to absorb chemotherapy drugs more efficiently than healthy cells.

This targeted approach enables us to use much lower doses of chemotherapy (usually 10% of the standard dose), which significantly reduces the unpleasant side effects often associated with conventional chemotherapy, such as bone marrow suppression, nausea, and hair loss. Simultaneously, we work to strengthen your immune system with supportive therapies, including IV and oral nutritional supplementation, detoxification protocols, and immune-boosting treatments.

How Does IPT Work?

During an IPT session, insulin is administered to the patient to open up the cancer cells’ receptors. This makes the cells more receptive to chemotherapy. Once the insulin has taken effect, a reduced dose of chemotherapy is introduced. Since cancer cells have a much higher number of insulin receptors, they absorb the chemotherapy drug at a significantly higher rate than healthy cells.

This approach allows us to deliver a potent blow to the cancer cells while sparing healthy tissues, reducing side effects, and preserving the immune system. In addition to the chemotherapy, we also introduce immune-boosting agents, detoxification treatments, and high-dose Vitamin C to further support the patient’s body in fighting cancer.

IPT: Hard on Cancer, Easy on Patients

At LifeWorks Wellness Center, we use a multi-pronged approach to cancer treatment that’s designed to be hard on cancer but easy on patients. We believe that treating the whole patient, rather than just the disease, leads to better outcomes. Here’s how we do it:

1. Low Dose Chemotherapy: IPT allows for the use of smaller amounts of chemotherapy drugs, which means patients experience far fewer side effects, making the treatment easier to tolerate.

2. Supporting the Immune System: In addition to chemotherapy, we use treatments like high-dose Vitamin C, ozone therapy, minerals, lipoic acid, and pulsed electromagnetic field therapy to support and enhance the immune system, giving the body the strength it needs to fight cancer.

3. Holistic Lifestyle Support: At LifeWorks, we help our patients optimize their diet and lifestyle to create an environment in which the body can heal. This includes detoxification protocols, IV nutrient therapy, and personalized nutritional plans.

Why You Should Consider IPT

A cancer diagnosis can be stressful due to the uncertainty surrounding recovery and the often difficult treatment protocols. IPT provides a viable option for patients seeking a gentler, more holistic treatment approach that still effectively combats cancer.

At LifeWorks Wellness Center, we have treated numerous patients with IPT and have witnessed its benefits first-hand.

How Insulin Potentiation Therapy is Performed

Before Starting IPT Treatments

Before starting IPT therapy, it’s important to know what to expect and how to prepare:

1. PICC Line or Port: Since patients often require multiple treatments, we recommend having a PICC line or port to make the infusion process easier. A PICC line is a long, thin catheter inserted into a large vein in the arm, while a port is surgically implanted under the skin in the chest or upper arm. Your doctor will help you decide which option is best based on your treatment plan.

2. Dietary Preparation: To prepare for the IPT session, patients should fast for six hours before treatment, drinking only water. After the treatment, it’s important to bring fruit, protein, and juice to help restore blood sugar levels.

3. Communication: Our team will sit down with you before the first treatment to explain every step of the process and answer any questions. This ensures you fully understand the procedure and feel comfortable moving forward.

During IPT Treatment

During the IPT session, patients sit in a comfortable chair while insulin is administered. This lowers blood sugar levels, making cancer cells more receptive to chemotherapy. Once the blood sugar has dropped to a safe level, the chemotherapy is administered through the PICC line or port.

Patients may experience mild symptoms of hypoglycemia, such as dizziness or lightheadedness, but these are temporary. After the chemotherapy, additional medications are given to stimulate immune function and detoxify the body, minimizing side effects.

After the Treatment

After the treatment is complete, patients will be asked to consume the food they brought to help raise their blood sugar levels. The food’s natural sugars will help attract the cancer cells to the chemotherapy. Once a patient completes the prescribed IPT treatments, a PET scan is ordered to assess progress and determine whether further treatments are necessary.
