What Are Some Causes of Cancer?

Cancer Causes, Types and Natural Treatment options available at LifeWorks

Cancer rarely occurs overnight

It is typically a slow-burn process which may take up to ten years before real symptoms occur and it is properly diagnosed.

This chronic condition quietly grows until the tumor cells metastasize (spread throughout the body) and this is usually the point when the patient experiences symptoms and seeks medical advice.

Potential Causes of Cancer

So, what causes, or contributes to, cells becoming cancerous?

  • Poor Diet a Potential Cause of Cancer
For a start, poor diet, especially one which is high in sugar, a toxic environment, deficiencies, infections and a high stress lifestyle are contributing to the accelerating rates of the incidence of cancer.
  • Could High Sugar Consumption Cause Cancer?
It was Nobel Prize winner, Otto Warberg, who first associated sugar with cancer cell growth and it is now widely recognized that cancer cells thrive on a high-sugar diet. In the US in particular, sugar in its many forms is present in almost all manufactured food and can go undetected unless you are an avid label-reader and know what to look for.
  • Environmental Toxins as a Cause of Cancer
There is also growing evidence that environmental toxins are a leading cause of many cancers. Substances like heavy metals, chemicals and pesticides literally poison the cells when they enter the body, hence they are known as carcinogens (an agent directly involved in causing cancer). These poisons enter from the food we eat, the air we breathe and the everyday items around us.
  • Nutritional Deficiencies as a Cause of Cancer
Nutritional deficiencies lead to a body which cannot produce a healthy immune response, so if body levels of minerals, vitamins, essential fatty acids, amino acids, and antioxidants are low, this could lead to a predisposition to cancer.
  • Virus Linked to Causing Certain Cancers
Viral infections such as Hepatitis B can cause liver cancer, and human papilloma virus (HPV) has been linked to cervical cancer.
  • Could Stress Contribute to Many Cancers?
Stress can also play a role in encouraging cancerous cells to form. Links between psychological stress and cancer can be made in several ways – people under stress may develop certain behaviors, such as smoking, overeating, or drinking alcohol, all of which lower the immune system and increase a person’s risk for cancer.

Treating the Causes of Cancer

At LifeWorks Wellness Center, we know from testing thousands of patients that most people have accumulated toxicities, deficiencies and low-grade silent infections. Usually, the patient is unaware of these and come to us just complaining about having a lack of energy or feeling tired. The underlying root cause of their fatigue has not been discovered because they have not undergone diagnostic testing, which is why it is usually their first step we take with new patients. By screening patients for potential toxicity, deficiency and infection we can remedy what’s wrong before the patient develops cancer. In addition to testing the patient, we also recommend the following anti-cancer protocols:

  • If heavy metals levels are found to be elevated then a detoxification protocol is recommended which will usually include Chelation therapy.
  • If the patient is found to have chronic infections we will first identify them and then use a combination of ozone therapy and IV therapy to treat them.
  • Any nutritional deficiencies can be corrected by offering a combination of IV therapy and supplementation.

We also encourage patients to enjoy a diet that is free of chemicals, additives, hormones, and antibiotics in order to minimize new toxins from entering the body. As much as possible patients should consume organic fruits and vegetables, meats from animals that are grass-fed, chicken from free-range hens and avoid the larger varieties of fish as many are laden with the potent toxin mercury.
