Alexander Graham Bell on looking for the opportunity:
“When one door closes, another opens; but we often look so long and so regretfully upon the closed door that we do not see the ones which open for us.”
Take this to heart.
With health…
You get an injury or you get sick. It could mean you have to stop. It could mean you are defeated. It could mean your goal to improve is over.
That’s a lie.
A couple of years ago I got COVID really bad.
I was sick as hell.
I had body aches. My brain function was off. I could not think a sequence of thoughts to figure anything out. The fever was burning me up.
It was a month before an Ironman Triathlon that I had spent 6 months training for.
I knew I couldn’t race but I knew I had to move, no matter the body and mental inertia.
There must be an open door here somewhere I pondered.
Then I got the idea, if I moved my body, it would get better.
I forced myself to get outside on my e bike and ride for an hour.
I rode to the beach with most of the speed coming from the e bike motor.
No matter.
The sunshine and being along the water and fresh air helped me.
I got home exhausted and slept for 2 hours.
But it helped.
I did it daily until I could get back on my road bike. It took two weeks.
It was an open door, and I took it.
There is always a door open when one closes and if you know this and look for it, you’ll see it.
But you have to look and when you see it be willing to act and walk through the door.
If one is in the mode of self-pity there is no looking or in the mode of self-invalidation there is no looking.
Quit that!
Get out of your head. Looking means out not in.
A being has an infinite power to create any future. The key is to see the open doors.
I think sometimes that God is standing there screaming at the person who is so caught up in self-pity and self-invalidation to just look up and look out and saying:
“Wake up dummy – here is the door, now walk through it!”
This is true in all things and in all times.
Have a great week.
Yours in health,
