Did you know that the very barbaric Electric Shock Therapy is still very much in use and even legal?

Why, even the hospital down the street from us prescribes it openly, and creates grand mal seizures in its victims and rakes in the dough for doing so….
Find me a psychiatrist that would allow it to be done to himself or his loved ones and I’ll buy you lunch.

Most of the people who are its victims have real illnesses which don’t require burning up their nerves with high voltage current. But only if someone is interested in them enough to look.

Hippocrates wrote the oath that all doctors ascribe to and it says, “above all do no harm.” Prescribing ECT has turned some docs into hypocrites and liars. This is an ongoing tragedy and must be stopped.

NAD: Nicotinamide Adenine Dinucleotide – is it the next modern-day miracle molecule?

One of the buzzes in the anti-aging industry is mitochondria. Much is known about these little guys that are partly responsible for health, well- being, vitality, and aging to name a few so they carry a lot of responsibility. A lot of action that takes place within them including processes that most of us take for granted or are not even aware of.

Each human cell contains several hundred mitochondria. We have more than ten million billion in our bodies which are responsible for 10% of our body weight. These organelles produce the ATP in the body, the fuel exchange our body needs to run efficiently. The ATP produced by the mitochondria are in higher demands in some parts of the body compared to others.

There are many complex biochemical processes that occur within the mitochondria and although not known really why, it is said that aging results from mitochondrial decay.

Many studies are being done on this molecule that are pointing in the direction of reversing mitochondrial decay, promoting health and promoting longevity. NAD cannot be absorbed from the diet, it must be made in the body. Every cell in our body needs it. Over 1000 biochemical pathways are supported by NAD.

Some of the processes are, increased ATP production, especially in the heart, it repairs altered DNA and regenerates damaged cells, lowers cholesterol and blood pressure, immune support, stimulates the production of important neurotransmitters to name a few.

NAD has been looked at for NeuroDegenerative Conditions such as Parkinsons Disease, Multiple Sclerosis, Optic Neuritis, Periphereal Neuropathy, Ischemic Stroke, Traumatic Brain Injury and Alzheimer’s Disease. Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis, Missouri, found that NAD protected against further nerve degeneration post-physical injury, or post-Chemotherapy injury.(1)

These same researchers looked at several precursors to NAD to determine which precursor would provide protection against neurodegeneration. Of all of the pathways involved, it was found that Nicotinamide Riboside(NR) was the only metabolite of the NAD pathway that worked(2). Research has proven positive in regards to optic neuritis, an inflammation of the optic nerve as well as ischemic stroke and traumatic brain injury.
Some of the most interesting news is the positive effects that were found with mitochondrial disorders which are often progressive and fatal. Frankenhauser Technique

This injection technique is mainly used for female disorders but it can also be used to treat men.

About Dr. David Minkoff, Medical Director

Dr. David Minkoff graduated from the University of Wisconsin Medical School in 1974 and was elected to the “Phi Beta Kappa” of medical schools, the prestigious Alpha Omega Alpha Honors Medical Fraternity for very high academic achievement. He then completed both a Pediatric Residency and a Fellowship in Infectious Disease at the University of California at San Diego. He worked at the University of California and Children’s Hospitals in San Diego as an attending physician in infectious disease while conducting original research on Ribaviron, a broad spectrum anti-viral agent to fight disease. He also co-directed a neo-natal intensive care unit and worked in emergency medicine. In 1992, Dr. Minkoff’s wife Sue, a Registered Nurse, became interested in nutrition and health and began to go to lectures from some of the experts in the field. At the time, Dr. Minkoff was pretty fixed in his view of traditional medicine and it took a lot of convincing to get him to come to one of these lectures. After hearing Dr. Jeffrey Bland speak, Dr. Minkoff had a eureka moment and began pursuing the alternative field with a vengeance. Based on this new knowledge Dr. Minkoff and his wife set up a small clinic in 1997 to help some friends with their medical problems. What began as an experiment blossomed into Lifeworks Wellness Center, one of the most successful clinics for complementary medicine in the United States. In the process, he gained expertise in Biological medicine, integrative oncology, heavy metal detoxification, anti-aging medicine, hormone replacement therapy, functional medicine, energy medicine, neural and prolotherapy, homeopathy, and optimum nutrition.
