Optimum Health Report #342

Optimum health report

At LifeWorks we strive to do only one thing: To help our patients achieve their optimum health.

Every person who works in our clinic is focused on that one outcome. Some who come to us are very ill, with life threatening conditions like cancer, Lyme, autoimmune disease or Alzheimer’s. Others are struggling with diabetes, high blood pressure, fatigue or low hormones and want a better quality of life. No matter what, each person that we see is given an individual program to meet their needs and help their condition. We do not have a cookie cutter that we stamp our patients with. With this approach we get the best results of any clinic anywhere.

This year I am proud to say that we had our highest ever in number of people helped and that gives me the highest satisfaction and pleasure to let you know that. And it boosts my enthusiasm to do even better next year.

So I invite you, if you have a health challenge, or you just want more energy or to lose weight, or get off of your prescription drugs, and want to live healthier and longer, or know someone who does, have them come in and get an evaluation. We can help them and you can trust us to do so. We have a team to serve you and you have my personal commitment that we will achieve that.

From me and the staff, I wish you a healthy and prosperous New Year and we are looking forward to seeing you in 2018.

Yours in total health,

Dr. David I Minkoff, MD

Patient Testimonial

“Thank you for all your help in ascertaining the root of my health problem. It is unfortunate that most doctors these days don’t uncover the root and work to fix it. They only want to manage the symptoms. “

Diabetes

For 2000 years diabetes has been recognized as a devastating and deadly disease.  In Roman times it was referred to as “sweet death”.  According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), in 2015 an estimated 23 million people in the United States have diabetes. (1)  This report also states that in 2015 diabetes was listed on 252,806 death certificates.

If you are an American diabetic, you will probably have been told that you can consume sugar and sugar-producing foods multiple times daily as long as you take enough insulin to cover yourself.  Sadly, when treating diabetes there has been little recognition of the fact that high levels of insulin are just as dangerous over time as sugar is.

Prolonged exposure to high levels of insulin can be very detrimental.  Glucose-lowering drugs usually succeed in lowering blood sugar levels, but may increase the death rate from heart attacks.  These drugs are also associated with weight gain, elevated cholesterol and triglyceride levels, nausea, diarrhea, constipation, stomach pain, drowsiness and headaches.

How we treat Diabetes at LifeWorks

The most important clue to treating diabetes is for the patient to understand their disease.  As one connects their lifestyle habits with their condition, they begin to see how there might be a way out of the mess they are in.  Over time, and with careful monitoring, it may be possible for him/her to reduce their medication and in some cases, cease it altogether.

Our practitioners and dieticians take the time to teach the basics of a healthy lifestyle, which is an important part of recovery from diabetes.  You can regain your good health and LifeWorks can help you do it.  Call (727) 466-6789 for more information.

Patient Testimonial

“I am at the beginning of my 5th week of treatment and I feel crazy good. When I started here 5 weeks ago I was in pain all over and my gut was so bad that I was doubled over. Now I have zero pain. I had no energy, so after these threatments I feel like I have a whole new life. Thank you!”

About Dr. David Minkoff, Medical Director

Dr. David Minkoff graduated from the University of Wisconsin Medical School in 1974 and was elected to the “Phi Beta Kappa” of medical schools, the prestigious Alpha Omega Alpha Honors Medical Fraternity for very high academic achievement. He then completed both a Pediatric Residency and a Fellowship in Infectious Disease at the University of California at San Diego. He worked at the University of California and Children’s Hospitals in San Diego as an attending physician in infectious disease while conducting original research on Ribaviron, a broad spectrum anti-viral agent to fight disease. He also co-directed a neo-natal intensive care unit and worked in emergency medicine. In 1992, Dr. Minkoff’s wife Sue, a Registered Nurse, became interested in nutrition and health and began to go to lectures from some of the experts in the field. At the time, Dr. Minkoff was pretty fixed in his view of traditional medicine and it took a lot of convincing to get him to come to one of these lectures. After hearing Dr. Jeffrey Bland speak, Dr. Minkoff had a eureka moment and began pursuing the alternative field with a vengeance. Based on this new knowledge Dr. Minkoff and his wife set up a small clinic in 1997 to help some friends with their medical problems. What began as an experiment blossomed into Lifeworks Wellness Center, one of the most successful clinics for complementary medicine in the United States. In the process, he gained expertise in Biological medicine, integrative oncology, heavy metal detoxification, anti-aging medicine, hormone replacement therapy, functional medicine, energy medicine, neural and prolotherapy, homeopathy, and optimum nutrition. He studied under the masters in each of these disciplines until he became an expert in his own right. Dr. Minkoff is one of the most in-demand speakers in the field and wrote an Amazon best-selling book called The Search For The Perfect Protein. The demand for the products and protocols he discovered became a catalyst for founding BodyHealth.Com, a nutrition company that now manufactures and distributes cutting-edge nutritional solutions for the many health problems of today. Dr. Minkoff writes two free online newsletters, “The Optimum Health Report” and ”The BodyHealth Fitness Newsletter”, to help others learn about optimum health and fitness. Dr. Minkoff is an avid athlete himself and has completed 43 Ironman Triathlons. To keep his fitness maximal, he lives the lifestyle he teaches to others and tries to set an example for others, so they can enjoy a life free of pain and full of energy.
