Optimum Health Report #349
Do you want to kill yourself and die of cancer? Then just eat a lot of processed foods.
According to a recent article in the British Medical Journal (1) almost 60% of the calories the average American consumes come from ultra-processed foods. These aren’t real foods. “They are food products”. They are created to be convenient, ready to eat, highly palatable, ready to drink and to replace cooking.
Go to any major grocery store and watch what people buy in the checkout line. The main food examples are:
- Soft drinks
- Sweetened juices
- Dairy drinks
- Powders for juices
- Chicken and fish nuggets or sticks
- Pre-prepared frozen dishes
- Dried products such as cake mix, powdered soup
- Instant noodles
- Ready seasonings
- Morning cereals and cereal bars
- Energy drinks
- An endless amount of new products including packaged snacks
These junk foods add 90% of the added sugars to the diet. In another article (2) in the same issue, the authors found that a 10% increase in ultra-processed foods led to a 12% increase in the risk of cancer.
The first intervention that I make on every new patient is to put them on an organic whole food Paleo diet. Within 6 weeks, nearly every person feels the difference and finds their cravings have gone away, their energy is better, their bowel movements are daily and they sleep better.
Try it and avoid suicide. Health is an inside job and only you can pull it off. Not all the medicine in the world or medical care system can save you from yourself.
Have a great week,
Dr. David I Minkoff, MD
“Dear Dr. Minkoff,
Thank you for yet another successful journey of bringing me back from the dead! Some people learn the hard way and I think after two times, hopefully I’ve got enough knowledge to keep myself Lyme free now.
Cindy and I will be moving back to Maryland after our lease is finished in May. I’ve decided I’m not willing to give up on my acupuncture career yet and for financial reasons we will be heading back to Maryland. I’m looking to start a practice where I can use float therapy and acupuncture to help people with PTSD (military), Lyme and sports therapy applications.
Thank you again for all the support through the years.”
- Sincerely Casey P.

You Are Where You Sleep
By Jennifer Baer A.R.N.P.
Recently, I had a patient come in and tell me that she should be a mattress specialist with all of the trouble she has had with her mattress. With all of the awareness around cell phone radiation, GMOs, Glyphosates etc., I have to say, I have never thought of a mattress before until she made this comment. So, I decided to do a little looking myself and this is a synopsis of what I found.
Many of us spend so much time with good food, good environment, good thoughts but we overlook the place where we spend 1/3 of our lives … our beds!
Mattresses contain a heap of toxins, maybe as comparable to a toxic waste dump. Yet, not only are we, but our loved ones are sleeping on top of this dump as well. Petroleum byproducts, Flame retardants and toxins to name a few.
If you are sleeping on a mattress in the United States, there are 3 basic types: Innerspring, polyurethane foam and gel foam. These 3 mattresses all have harmful products that seep in the body and not only are a nightmare to understand but can cause nightmares to the body!

At LifeWorks Wellness Center we offer a number of tests which provide your healthcare practitioner with a full analysis of hormone levels.
A saliva test allows us to customize your specific hormonal testing. It includes a complete adrenal (cortisol and DHEA) profile with the hormone evaluation.
The Estronex test is a measurement of the 2 important forms of estrogen: 2-OHE 1 (the “good” estrogen) and 16-a-OHE 1 (the “bad” estrogen). The ratio of “good to bad” estrogen is determined from a first morning urine specimen. Studies have shown that women with low Estronex 2/16 ratios have much higher rate s of breast cancer. Low Estronex 2/16 ratios also indicate increased long-term risk for other estrogen-sensitive cancers, including uterine, ovarian, head and neck cancers.
If you are worried about your hormones, call LifeWorks Wellness Center on (727) 466-6789. We can help.

DAVID MINKOFF - LIFEWORKS WELLNESS CENTER
ATTACKS ILLITERACY IN HIS COMMUNITY
Clearwater, FL- David Minkoff and his staff at Lifeworks Wellness Center were honored by Lt. Gen. Pete Osman, USMC (ret), President and CEO of the USMC Toys for Tots for their outstanding support of the Youth Literacy Program with Toys for Tots' highest level of recognition, Commander's Award for Literacy.
In an earlier event where supports of the Toys for Tots youth literacy program was recognized, Lt. Gen. Pete Osman, stated that a single book can be the difference between a young person connecting with the world and becoming productive or becoming a burden to society. Thus he initiated the Toys for Tots youth literacy program to make a positive change.
Per the Handbook of Early Literacy Research, Vol. 2 (edited by Susan Neuman and David Dickinson), “In low-income neighborhoods, the ratio of books per child is one age-appropriate book for every 300 children.”
David has supported all major literacy programs including the local Boys & Girls Clubs, local school reading programs in addition to the Toys for Tots program. David stated, |
“I am no longer sitting here and watching these literacy stats decline. Why would I when I can do something about it? Putting adventurous, educational and fun books into these homes connects our youth to knowledge and creativity. Through a book these young minds can grow. I am doing something about it and every parent can too! I urge you to join us in turning the tides of illiteracy and creating an educated, productive.”
David additionally takes great pride in the professional service as a doctor that he provides to his community of Clearwater.
