In 1906, a doctor by the name of Alois Alzheimer discovered something unusual within the brain tissue of a woman who succumbed to death due to an unusual mental illness. Her symptoms ranged from language problems, memory loss, and unpredictable behaviors. When her brain was finally investigated, they found numerous abnormal clumps and tangled fibers (that are known as amyloid plaques and neurofibrillary tangles that play a significant role in the connection loss of neurons in the brain and widespread damage of brain tissue). Today, this condition is known as Alzheimer’s disease and, according to the Alzheimer’s Association, it is the most prevalent neurodegenerative disease affecting approximately 50 million people worldwide along with other forms of dementia¹. Unfortunately, this disease is extremely difficult and debilitating to deal with for both victims of the disease and family members of those suffering with it. However, certain therapeutic injectable supplements such as the Cerebrolysin peptide have proven to assist in treating these conditions.
What is Cerebrolysin?
Patients may need peptides if their bodies can no longer produce enough of the essential amino acids and proteins for a specific organ to work properly. For those with Alzheimer’s, their brains are no longer producing Cerebrolysis, the chemical that is naturally found within the human brain to protect and replenish brain cells. Cerebrolysin is a mixture of peptides derived from a pig’s brain and contains a mixture of amino acids and proteins to improve brain cell communication and enhance learning and memory.
The Benefits of Cerebrolysin
Cognitive Vitality reported that “a few clinical trials have shown that Cerebrolysin can improve cognitive functions in older people with memory problems and in those with schizophrenia².” Other studies have shown that the peptide was effective in:
- reducing brain inflammation
- inducing protein production and growth of brain cells
- preventing the death of brain cells
- enhancing learning capacity
- increasing brain cell communication
Because of this, patients that suffer with Alzheimer’s, traumatic brain injuries, strokes, or other cognitive development issues have found that Cerebrolysin decreased their symptoms and improved their learning capabilities. Furthermore, Cerebrolysin has been found to improve the symptoms in those who suffer from Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), Depression, and Autism³.
Treating Alzheimer’s, Dementia, and other Cognitive Issues at LifeWorks
The National Institute of Aging (NIA) reports that “unless Alzheimer’s can be effectively treated or prevented, the number of people with it will increase significantly if current population trends continue4.” LifeWorks Wellness Center strives to do its part in limiting those numbers with natural remedies and peptides that have proven to help others in enhancing their memory. If you or someone that you know is currently experiencing cognitive decline, Alzheimer’s, or other forms of dementia, please call to schedule an appointment at 727-466-6789.
