The Semax Peptide

At LifeWorks Wellness Center, many patients have come in with neurological disorders that were impacting their lives or were at high risk of developing certain cognitive issues and seeking ways of prevention naturally. We treat these conditions in numerous ways, with a notable method being the Semax Peptide.
  • Have you ever done something without thinking twice about it? (Not the impulsive decisions that you made as a teenager.)
  • Have you ever accidentally touched a hot stove and reacted immediately by pulling your hand away?
  • Have you ever been in a situation where you had to defend yourself from a punch and your reflexes automatically put your arms up to block the attack?

All of these actions were immediately done without you having to think about it and were solely based on the functions of your central nervous system (CNS). The purpose of the CNS is to control the actions of the mind and body and consists of the brain and the spinal cord. It has the power to control memory, nerves, neurological functions, and stress response. If any of these functions happen to fail due to a brain injury or over a period of time, this can lead to severe cognitive functions such as Cerebrovascular Disease, memory failure, Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s, or Ischemic Stroke.

An article produced by JAMA Neurology claimed that in 2017 it was estimated that “more than 200 million Americans (60% of the population) were affected by at least one neurological disorder that ranged from migraine, stroke and dementia.”¹ At LifeWorks Wellness Center, many patients have come in with neurological disorders that were impacting their lives or were at high risk of developing certain cognitive issues and seeking ways of prevention naturally. We treat these conditions in numerous ways, with a notable method being the Semax Peptide.

What is the Semax Peptide?

Peptides are described as “short chains of amino acids that act as building blocks of proteins.”² The body needs proteins for all organs to function effectively, and when someone is protein malnourished, they may find themselves frequently becoming sick. In peptides, the proteins release essential amino acids that are not naturally produced by the body or cannot be found in any external resources. These amino acids will enhance a specific function of the body depending on which peptide is being administered. Generally, the Semax peptide contains adrenocorticotropic hormones (ACTH) and the melanocyte-stimulating hormone (MSH) to enhance the central nervous system and treat developmental or neurological issues.

What are the Benefits of the Semax Peptide?

Semax was first developed based on the ACTH hormone. It is well known for increasing brain-derived neurotrophic factor levels (BDNF) and containing nootropic, neuroprotective, neuroplasticity and neurogenic properties. BDNF is a very active neurotrophic that stimulates neurogenesis and encourages nerve cells to regenerate, support existing neurons, or adapt to environmental changes. The Semax peptide is a main basis for multiple drugs that treat CNS diseases across the United States and throughout the world. This includes preventing nerve atrophy, strokes, nerve regeneration, anxiety, memory improvement, brain and nerve damage, Alzheimer’s, inflammation, ADHD, and amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS).

The Side Effects of the Semax Nasal Spray

Fortunately, Semax has no major recorded side effects associated with it nor is it connected with any withdrawal symptoms. With this being said, people should still proceed with caution and speak with a practitioner prior to use as the long-term effects are still unidentified.
