When one works with people who are suffering from a chronic illness like Lyme or cancer, the real pay one receives from helping them is to see them get better. The medicine we practice is not a cookie cutter one size fits all solution. It’s not a drug prescription that is given after a five-minute interview and often times not even a cursory physical exam.
Our interactions are personal. The patients in our practice are our family.
I just received the following letter from such a patient. While as a very young and very educated professional she could barely work or even get out of bed for years and sought help from many clinics before she came to us. We worked together for a year and a half. While suffering she never lost her optimism and her husband cared for her and helped her to an amazing degree.
She writes:
“For my 6-month checkups it is always a pleasure to see Dr. Minkoff, review my progress, and rejuvenate my health plans moving forward. It is an uplifting and positive experience I am grateful for and worth the 3-hour drive! I am thankful every day for the guidance and treatments Dr. Minkoff has provided me. There was a time when I didn’t know if I would ever be this well and functioning again. It is my miracle.
All is well here, and all my questions so far have been answered.
Thank you again, I’ll be sure to reach out if anything comes up.”
For me, this acknowledgement is what brings me to work every day and what carries me through the nights when I am worried about a patient that is having a hard time. To see her now, glowing and beautiful and energetic is wonderful.
If you or someone you love is having health problems, we can help them.
We have the knowhow to bring them back to vibrant health. If they will just make the appointment, we can take it from there.
Have a great week.
