Mold Illness FAQ

Is all black mold toxic?

Is all black mold toxic?

Not all black mold is toxic. The term “black mold” is commonly associated with Stachybotrys chartarum, a type of mold that can produce mycotoxins and is considered harmful. However, not all molds that appear black are Stachybotrys, and not all strains of Stachybotrys produce mycotoxins. It’s important to have any mold growth professionally assessed to determine its type and potential health risks.
