I completed 35 sessions of EECP yesterday and these are some of the changes I have noticed.
After the first week of EECP (5 days), I went to the gym Esporta and worked out for 5 hours and noticed I could lift weights faster because I was not as winded, and I could add more weights doing deadlifts, pushing the sled and other strenuous things.
Also, at home, where I have to climb two very steep staircases to the 3rdfloor, I no longer was getting winded going up, as much as I had been, and that improved as I received more EECP sessions.
Here are some other positive changes I noticed.
My blood pressure has gone down to a more healthy range for my age and condition – I am 77 and had quadruple open heart by-pass surgery in January 2019.
Before and after the surgery whenever anyone took my blood pressure it would be very high (200/110), but now it is regularly around 130/80 and sometimes lower.
Another thing noticeable to my family is that my body has bulked up; that is, I have more muscle mass, especially in my thighs and pectoral regions, which is important as you age.
One more important change I experienced, important to me, is that I am able to sail in cold, even almost freezing weather with rain and high winds, and control the boat; of course, I wear proper clothing, but my tolerance of cold has improved and just last weekend I place 3rd in the beginner division!
I have experienced more benefits but I’m running out of space and need to thank all the staff who administer EECP and who have been so helpful, encouraging and cheerful: Alicia, Charlotte, Cynthia and Amy.
They really know what they are doing and I feel safe in their care.
